Published

Nigeria Police have clarified that their helicopter was not used to deliver food to bandits, as claimed in a viral video.

Naija News reports that Police spokesman, Olumuyiwa Adejobi, said the armed group in the viral video was not bandits but joint security forces that included local hunters.

In a statement on Tuesday, Adejobi urged Nigerians to disregard social media trends, claiming police used their helicopter to deliver food to bandits.

He disclosed that the joint security camped at Obajana axis of Kogi State, and the helicopter was to provide aerial support to the security personnel.

It read: “The Nigeria Police Force wishes to address a video currently circulating online, depicting a police helicopter landing and taking off in an area with armed individuals. Contrary to the misleading and false narrative suggesting that the aircraft was used to deliver food items to bandits, the Force categorically states that the video captures a legitimate security operation.

Kano Court Dismisses Ganduje’s Move To Stop Alleged Bribery Case

Published

on

A Kano State High Court on Tuesday dismissed a motion filed by the National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Abdullahi Ganduje, challenging the court’s jurisdiction to hear the 11-count corruption charge brought against him and seven others.

The ruling was delivered by Justice Amina Adamu Aliyu, who declared that the preliminary objections raised by Ganduje and his co-defendants were “incompetent” and lacked merit.

Justice Aliyu, presiding over the case, confirmed that the court had the authority to hear the charges, which include allegations of bribery, conspiracy, misappropriation, and diversion of public funds amounting to billions of naira.

The judge emphasised the legitimacy of the case, stating, “The charges before this court are competent. The power to investigate criminal matters does not reside solely with the police. The Kano State Public Complaints and Anti-Corruption Commission is equally empowered under the law.”
